“I believe I have one more album within me,” the singer/actress expressed in a podcast interview earlier this year.
Even if Selena Gomez decides to step back from the music industry for a while, she envisions a future “revival.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 31-year-old singer and actress addressed her previous statement about having another album left in her. She clarified that it’s not a definitive “no, never” regarding music, but rather an acknowledgment that she may take intermittent breaks while focusing more on her passion for acting.
Gomez emphasized that it’s natural for individuals to take breaks and that she finds fulfillment in exploring other creative avenues such as film and television. She expressed her love for these mediums and noted that there are many unexplored opportunities she wishes to pursue in that realm.
The star of “The Only Murders in the Building” further elaborated, stating, “It’s not a definite ‘no, never’ when it comes to music; rather, I’d prefer to delve deeper into that realm and have the opportunity to fully explore it.”
As Gomez discussed her aspirations in the acting world, she also shared her vision for future projects. “I thrive on roles that require effort and determination, not those that are simply offered to me,” the acclaimed artist expressed. “I’m drawn to projects that truly ignite my passion.”
The artist behind “Wolves” initially stirred significant discussion among her fans regarding the trajectory of her pop music career after she admitted on a January episode of the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, that she was feeling “fatigued” by the music-making process.
“I do believe there’s one more album within me, though if I had to choose, I’d lean towards acting,” Gomez expressed when discussing her passion for both music and acting.
She continued, reflecting on her journey, “I’ll probably want to take it easy because I’m feeling worn out. Initially, I aspired to be an actress, not necessarily a full-time singer, but my musical pursuits took on a life of their own.”
The performer, nominated for a Golden Globe, elaborated on her evolving perspective, saying, “I had a lot of enjoyment with music in the early stages of my career, and I just kept going. However, as I’ve grown older, I find myself desiring more stability.”
Gomez currently has several projects she’s dedicated to, spanning both acting and music.
The singer recently released her first single of the year, titled “Love On,” a catchy pop track exploring the allure of newfound love. Accompanying the song, Gomez unveiled a visually stunning music video set in Paris in February.
Additionally, the artist is reported to be working on a new album, although details remain scarce. Confirming to Rolling Stone, Gomez disclosed that she’s actively involved in crafting her fourth studio album and expresses hope for its release sometime this year.
On the acting front, Gomez has a lineup of highly anticipated projects. She has commenced filming for the fourth season of the popular Hulu comedy series, “Only Murders in the Building.”
Recently, she was announced as an executive producer for the reboot of “The Wizards of Waverly Place,” a beloved Disney Channel classic. The show will serve as a sequel, with David Henrie as a series regular and Gomez making a guest appearance.
Furthermore, Gomez is set to portray Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming feature film biopic.
