I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska and graduated with 12 people in my class. I was valedictorian, but shhh….don’t tell people there were only a dozen kids in my class! My whole family still lives in Nebraska and I love going back to visit them, and make regular trips every summer for the county fair. Thank goodness the fair doesn’t happen in the winter because I’m not a big fan of snow.
I’ve worked in radio from the moment I graduated from the U of Nebraska. (I’m a Cornhusker, and lived in Austin for five years too, and have a special place in my heart for the Longhorns.) I’ve been on a hundred stations at one point or another during my career, and I just love radio and hanging out with awesome people like you every day.
Other things I love….let’s see. Avocados and quinoa and kale, and I try to eat healthy overall. I’m making an effort now to go gluten-free, which ain’t easy because I love crackers. A lot! But I’m finding some gluten-free ones now. You’ll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They’re all six or under and they exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don’t think I was ever as smart as they already are. We have one miniature schnauzer named Harry, and he puts up with a LOT having three human sisters. The middle kid puts a leash on him inside the house and walks him around. He’s such a good boy to tolerate us. I’ve been single for about a year, and I’ve turned into quite the online dater. I’m still convinced Mr. Right is just a click away! I’ll share some of the doozies on the air from time to time and I’d love to hear your crazy dating stories. I love to shop, dream, and listen to good music. Life is good.
IN THE MIX WITH THE MIX MORNINGS CREW
If you were a cartoon, which one would you be and why?
Word Girl. A super hero that outwits the bad guys with words and smarts? Greatness.
What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
I ate fried alligator once. Never again. It was too chewy.
What do you do to have fun?
I shop, put on the sassy outfit I just bought, and go out for drinks with friends or dates.
Have you been told you look like someone famous? If so, who?
Trisha Yearwood with Helen Hunt’s forehead.
If you were to name one piece of clothing that describes you, what would you say?
A sparkly tank top. I want to be comfortable, but never want to blend in.
If you were a superhero, what would your name and super power be?
Magic Mama, who could make three sandwiches at the speed of light while simultaneously confirming a dentist appointment on the phone and answering rapid-fire questions about why the sky is blue and what makes boys different from girls. Moms may already be superheroes.
What’s one thing you do that other people find odd or silly?
Check and double check whether I unplugged the hair dryer. I have turned the car around before just to run in the house and make sure.
What’s the funniest pick up line you’ve ever heard?
My doctor says I’m lacking Vitamin U.
If you were to write a book about yourself, what would be the title?
Why Don’t You Have Life Figured Out Yet, And Other Lighthearted Ponderings
Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
Cleaning the fish tank. When we got the Beta (named Maddox because he’s always mad), the girls said they would help clean it. That lasted one week and now Mama does it solo most of the time.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When people don’t return grocery carts to their home and leave them loose in the parking lot. I’ll combine two or three of those things and take them back to the “return cart here” area myself. You’re welcome.
What’s the one thing, you can’t live without?
Granola.
As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
A soap opera actress so I could be dramatic and kiss hotties all day.
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
My Calvin Klein makeup.
Who is your all time favorite Mix artist?
Lady Gaga.
