Selena Gomez, known for her role in ‘Only Murders in the Building,’ gave a glimpse of her upcoming music by sharing a snippet featuring the ‘Sex and the City’ character Samantha Jones.

Selena Gomez and Kim Cattrall, both cast members of television shows set in New York City, recently displayed their mutual admiration for one another through a brief interaction on social media.
On a recent Tuesday, 31-year-old Gomez offered a sneak peek of her upcoming single “Single Soon” by sharing a video of herself accompanied by audio from “Sex and the City.” The post, captioned “Single Soon this Friday!” was made by the star of “Only Murders in the Building.” Earlier this month, Gomez had confirmed that “Single Soon” was set to be released on August 25.
In the video clip, Gomez cleverly employed audio from a first-season episode of “Sex and the City” titled “Three’s a Crowd.” Within the audio, Kim Cattrall’s character, Samantha Jones, engages in a phone conversation with an overly enthusiastic admirer. Mimicking Samantha’s iconic tone, Gomez humorously portrayed answering the phone with a sing-song “Hellooo?” in sync with the character’s voice. This creative nod to “Sex and the City” added an exciting twist to her music teaser.
In the video clip, a male voice without a visible presence exclaimed, “It’s over, I told my wife [about us]!” Gomez’s playful portrayal of Samantha responded with a dismissive, “Who is this?” followed by a nonchalant shrug and a hang-up gesture.
This amusing snippet was subsequently shared on X, formerly referred to as Twitter, where it captured the interest of Kim Cattrall, aged 67. The star of “How I Met Your Father” chose to repost the video, accompanied by her endorsement.
“I endorse this message,” Cattrall declared, complementing her statement with a lipstick emoji.
In the “Three’s a Crowd” episode of “Sex and the City,” Samantha finds herself entangled with a married man. As the story unfolds, the married man contacts Samantha, expressing his willingness to leave his wife for her. However, Samantha decides against pursuing this romantic scenario.
While Selena Gomez has been actively engaged in her acting endeavors, particularly her role in “Only Murders in the Building,” she has simultaneously been focused on her music career. Her latest work, “Single Soon,” will be a part of her forthcoming album, tentatively named SG3.
Addressing her fans’ long-standing anticipation for new music, Gomez shared on her social media, “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while.” Recognizing that her third album, SG3, is still in progress, she decided to unveil a cheerful, previously written song that perfectly suits the conclusion of summer. The track, titled “SINGLE SOON,” is set to drop on August 25th. She also encouraged her followers to pre-save the song.
This upcoming single will mark Gomez’s first release of new music since her Spanish-language EP “Revelación,” which was launched in 2021. On the other side, Cattrall’s next appearance will be in the season 2 finale of the “Sex and the City” spinoff series “And Just Like That…,” scheduled to air on Thursday, August 24th on Max.
