The pop singer is currently joining the superstar on the Latin American leg of her tour

Sabrina Carpenter expresses disbelief at the unexpected opportunity to open for one of her favorite artists on tour. The 24-year-old pop star, currently on the Latin American leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, shared her feelings about this full-circle, career-defining moment in an interview with Who What Wear. Despite the surreal experience, Carpenter described it as “a dream come true.”
In a light-hearted tone, she joked with the outlet, stating, “I’m not gonna say I peed my pants because that sounds really graphic and maybe not sanitary, but I think it really just caught me off guard.” Carpenter’s humor reflects her genuine surprise and gratitude for the incredible opportunity.
Touring with the Grammy winner has been a fulfillment of a childhood dream for Sabrina Carpenter, who has admired Taylor Swift for years. The 24-year-old artist admitted, “It was very much a childhood dream come true,” and confessed that she still hasn’t fully processed the experience.
Carpenter expressed deep respect for Swift, referring to her as the “Anti-Hero” singer, and shared insights into the longevity of their relationship. The “Nonsense” artist revealed that their connection goes back to when she was 17 and met Swift backstage at a concert. Carpenter reminisced, “She had her cats with her,” highlighting that their shared love for cats became an early bond between them.
Describing her early connection with Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter likened it to the relationship one might have with older sisters. The “Emails I Can’t Send” artist emphasized the familial aspect, stating, “I have older sisters, so if anything, it felt like that type of a relationship.”
Carpenter continued to express her gratitude for Swift’s ongoing support, saying, “To work with someone [who] cares about you as a person as well as an artist … that’s been the biggest gift for sure.” She reflected on the meaningful start of her journey with Swift, kicking off the Eras Tour in Mexico by playing footage of herself at age 9 singing Swift’s “Picture to Burn.”
Having commenced her involvement in Swift’s acclaimed Eras Tour in August with three dates in Mexico City, Carpenter and Swift resumed their Latin American shows with a three-night stint in Buenos Aires, Argentina, over the weekend.
The “Read Your Mind” artist is set to reunite with the pop icon on Friday for a series of three dates in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, followed by an additional three shows in São Paulo, Brazil the following weekend. After Taylor Swift’s four shows in Tokyo in early February 2024, Sabrina Carpenter will once again join her for a series of dates in Australia and Singapore.
Carpenter has consistently demonstrated her admiration for Swift since joining the Eras Tour. In October, she released a two-track EP exclusively for Spotify, featuring a cover of Swift’s hit “I Knew You Were Trouble” from the “Red” album. This reflects Carpenter’s ongoing celebration of Swift’s music and the camaraderie they share on the tour.
Upon the release of Sabrina Carpenter’s rendition of the 2012 song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” Taylor Swift herself expressed admiration for Carpenter’s performance. The superstar shared the cover on her Instagram Story and praised Carpenter, stating, “Well, she nailed it.”
In an August interview with Rolling Stone, the pop singer expressed her eagerness to learn from Swift while touring with her. Carpenter acknowledged Swift’s mastery, stating, “Watching her is a masterclass in itself. Obviously, she’s very good with words. So I feel a lot more comfortable that I’m going into a situation with someone that I admire so much, and I’m just gonna like study.” This highlights Carpenter’s appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from a performer of Swift’s caliber.
