The superstar is nominated for eight awards at the May 25 awards show
Taylor Swift will reportedly skip the 2026 American Music Awards, PEOPLE has confirmed.
The “Opalite” hitmaker, 36, earned eight nominations at this year’s AMAs, including major categories such as Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for her hugely successful 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl.
With an impressive 40 American Music Awards already under her belt, Swift remains the most-decorated artist in the history of the event. If she manages to win in all of her nominated categories this year, she would match the record held by Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the highest number of AMA victories in a single year.
The 52nd American Music Awards will be hosted by Queen Latifah at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The ceremony is scheduled to air live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Performers for the evening include Keith Urban, Riley Green, Maluma, Hootie & the Blowfish, and KATSEYE, among others.
Following the awards show, Swift is expected to attend another major milestone in her career when she is inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City on June 11. The singer, who is engaged to Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, will become the youngest woman ever inducted into the prestigious organization.
The honor comes after another record-breaking chapter in Swift’s career. In October, she released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which reportedly achieved the largest first-week album sales in modern music history. Two months later, she expanded her Eras Tour legacy with the Disney+ documentary series Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, offering fans an inside look at the historic tour. At the same time, she also released Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, a concert film capturing the final performance of the global tour.
