Swift’s Melbourne concerts marked the pinnacle of her 18-year career, drawing in the largest crowds yet, with approximately 288,000 attendees over three consecutive sold-out nights.
During her final show of the three-consecutive Eras Tour performances in Melbourne, Australia, on Sunday, Taylor Swift, aged 34, took center stage and delivered an electrifying performance.
Swift pleasantly surprised the packed audience with a blend of “Come Back…Be Here” from her Red album and “Daylight” from Lover, prompting a unified eruption of excitement from many of the 96,000 attendees upon the unexpected emergence of the latter song’s bridge.
This mashup, performed inside the Melbourne Cricket Ground, was part of the “surprise songs” segment of her extensive three-hour setlist. At each Eras show, the 14-time Grammy winner handpicks two songs not initially included in the setlist to perform that night — one on piano and one on guitar.
Swift’s delivery of a mashup, such as the one witnessed by Sunday’s audience, is a rare treat for fans.
This marked the second consecutive night that the “Mastermind” singer delighted Swifties with a mashup. On Saturday, Swift, wielding a guitar, seamlessly blended “Getaway Car,” “August,” and “The Other Side of the Door.”
Acknowledging the significance of the Melbourne audiences, which were the largest of her 18-year career, Swift made sure to pay tribute to this milestone.
During the Sunday show, Swift expressed her gratitude to the approximately 288,000 individuals who attended the Eras Tour spanning from February 16th to 18th.
“Onstage, Swift exclaimed, ‘96,000 people the first night, 96,000 people the second night, 96,000 people tonight. Those are all the biggest shows I’ve ever played on a tour — and you did it three times. The math is that it’s 288,000 people in three nights.’
‘Melbourne, you are the love of my life. I cannot believe you, what have you done?’ she added. ‘It’s just incredibly nice to do for someone [to] make them feel welcome like that.’
Swift also conveyed her appreciation in a message on X (formerly Twitter), saying, ‘Melbourne, what do I even say to you after over 288,000 of you came and danced with us in the last 3 nights??! That was unforgettable. You were on another LEVEL. Thank you for the memories. I’ll revisit the ones from this weekend often.’
The Eras Tour will continue in Sydney at Accor Stadium from February 23rd to 26th.”
