Taylor Swift Opens Up About Her Longtime Friendship with Ed Sheeran
Taylor Swift is giving fans a glimpse into her enduring bond with Ed Sheeran.
During an interview on the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Friday, Oct. 3, the Life of a Showgirl singer, 35, spoke about her close friendship with the “Photograph” hitmaker, 34 — and what the two chatted about while celebrating Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding in Santa Barbara, California, on Sept. 27.
“I actually saw Ed last weekend at a wedding for one of our closest friends,” Swift shared, referring to Gomez, 33.
She went on to recall a favorite memory from her Eras Tour: “We were reminiscing about the time he came out on stage with me at Wembley. It was such a special moment performing ‘End Game’ together again.”
Swift added that their friendship often revolves around their shared love of music, especially when they’re collaborating creatively.
“There’s this kind of uncanny connection between us — like we’re on the same wavelength — and it’s always been that way,” she explained. “And I think it always will be.”

During her appearance on the U.K.’s Hits Radio Breakfast Show, Taylor Swift playfully revealed that both she and Ed Sheeran can’t resist taking the stage when given the chance.
Host Fleur East teased Swift about Sheeran’s reputation for being asked to perform at weddings, recalling that the “Perfect” singer told the show he’s constantly invited to sing at such events. East then asked whether Sheeran might be performing at Swift’s own upcoming wedding to her fiancé, NFL star Travis Kelce.
Laughing, Swift replied, “It would probably be impossible to stop him. He always says he’s constantly being asked to sing at weddings — and I’m like, ‘Ed, if there’s a stage anywhere near you, we all know you’ll end up on it.’ He just loves giving people what they want.”
The Life of a Showgirl artist added that their mutual passion for music makes performing together second nature.
“That’s the fun part of our friendship — we both just love to perform and to write. We’ll be like, ‘Don’t make me sing… okay, fine!’ And the next thing you know, we’re explaining to the house band how to play ‘Shake It Off’.”
Swift went on to say that neither she nor Sheeran need much convincing to join in on a performance. “We genuinely love what we do,” she said. “It’s never hard to talk either of us into singing — at pretty much anything.”
The Grammy winner also reminisced about Sheeran’s own wedding to wife Cherry Seaborn, saying, “He had a beautiful one about eight years ago — a forest wedding, really magical.” The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, now share two daughters.
A source previously told PEOPLE that both Swift and Sheeran delivered heartfelt speeches at Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding reception, where the longtime friends celebrated into the night.
“Everyone was having a great time, dancing and celebrating well into the evening,” the insider said. “The energy was just pure joy.”
