Taylor Swift wrapped up her historic Eras Tour on a Sunday — a day that required her to balance two major priorities: her final performance and cheering on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs.
The 36-year-old superstar took the stage for her last tour stop in Vancouver on Dec. 8, 2024, which happened to coincide with the Chiefs’ home game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Kansas City.
Footage from her Disney+ docuseries The End of an Era captures a lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment as Swift proudly showed off her Chiefs loyalty. Backstage in her dressing room, she and her father, Scott Swift, tuned in to the game while she wore a Kansas City sweatshirt.
Upon entering the room, Swift immediately asked whether the game was on, then reacted enthusiastically as the action unfolded. Clearly invested, she could be heard cheering loudly at the screen, hoping the team would maintain their lead.
Scott jokingly remarked that he never expected his daughter to spend the final day of her tour focused on sports. Swift agreed, laughing that football had never been part of her world earlier in life. Her dad added that he had simply been waiting for the moment to arrive.
As the day progressed, Swift began rehearsing the surprise songs planned for that evening’s show, all while keeping one eye on the TV. During a run-through of “New Romantics,” she playfully altered the lyrics to reference a first down, blending rehearsal with fandom. At another moment, she stopped mid-song to shout “Touchdown!” as Scott laughed nearby.
Reflecting on the day, Swift joked that if everything continued to go her way, it would be an unforgettable one.
The Chiefs ultimately edged out the Chargers with a 19–17 win, earning their ninth consecutive AFC West title. (The team has since faced a more challenging season and currently sits outside playoff contention.)
That same evening, Swift took the stage one final time on the Eras Tour, officially closing the chapter on the record-breaking run.
In a voiceover from the documentary, she reflected on life after the tour, expressing a desire to reclaim parts of herself that had been set aside during the intense schedule. She admitted that the tour demanded nearly all of her energy, leaving little room for anything extra, but said she was looking forward to rediscovering old interests and a sense of normalcy.
Swift has previously spoken candidly about how her relationship with Kelce introduced her to football — a sport she once knew nothing about. During an August appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, she shared that she unexpectedly fell in love with the game and quickly became an enthusiastic fan.
She joked about sprinting through her house celebrating draft picks, including first-round selection Xavier Worthy in the 2024 NFL Draft, leaving her friends stunned by the transformation.
Kelce, meanwhile, has publicly expressed his gratitude for Swift’s wholehearted embrace of football, thanking her for fully immersing herself in his world.
