Taylor Swift has previously taken home the Grammy for Album of the Year four times for her albums Midnights, Folklore, 1989, and Fearless, marking her as one of the most awarded artists in this category.
Taylor Swift has set yet another milestone!
In the 2025 Grammy Awards nominations announced on Friday, Nov. 8, the Recording Academy revealed that Swift, 35, has broken a significant record by becoming the first woman to earn seven Album of the Year nominations. This achievement, with her latest nod for The Tortured Poets Department, surpasses her previous tie with Barbra Streisand, who held six nominations in the category.
Swift’s current nomination is also her fourth consecutive year in the Album of the Year category. She joins an impressive lineup for 2025, competing against New Blue Sun by André 3000, Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé, Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter, Brat by Charli XCX, Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier, Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish, and The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan.
This year, Taylor Swift earned six Grammy nominations, bringing her career total to 58, along with 14 wins. She has won Album of the Year four times: for Fearless (2010), 1989 (2016), Folklore (2021), and Midnights (2024). Swift was also nominated for Red (2014) and Evermore (2022), though neither album won in the category.
Additionally, Swift received nominations for Best Music Video, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “us” with Gracie Abrams, and Best Pop Vocal Album for The Tortured Poets Department.
She made waves at the 2024 Grammy Awards when she announced the release of The Tortured Poets Department during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album after winning for Midnights, marking her 13th Grammy win, which she called her “lucky number.”
During her 2024 Grammy acceptance speech, Taylor Swift expressed gratitude to the Recording Academy for her win, noting that the votes were a reflection of her fans’ passion. She then revealed a secret she’d been keeping for two years: her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, would be released on April 19. “I’m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you,” she said.
This year’s top nominees include Beyoncé, with a record-breaking 11 nominations, followed by Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone, each with seven nominations. Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Jack Antonoff, and Shaboozey follow closely with six and five nominations, respectively. The 67th Grammy Awards will take place on February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
