As she marked Rare Beauty’s rollout at Ulta Beauty locations, the brand’s founder shared what inspires and empowers her.
Selena Gomez is embracing a confident new chapter.
The 33-year-old singer and actress shared insight into her current beauty mindset while celebrating Rare Beauty’s expansion into Ulta Beauty stores at the retailer’s El Segundo, California, location on Saturday, Jan. 31. Gomez described her present look as timeless with a subtle sensual edge, explaining that she’s leaning into a playful, youthful energy that still feels classic.
She also reflected on how emotional it was to see her brand officially stocked on Ulta shelves, calling the experience almost unreal. Visiting the store ahead of the launch made the milestone feel tangible and signaled just how far the brand has come.
Beyond the beauty partnership, Ulta Beauty is also supporting Rare Beauty’s philanthropic efforts throughout February. Shoppers purchasing any product—regardless of brand—have the option to donate at checkout, with proceeds split evenly between the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation and the Rare Impact Fund. Gomez expressed excitement over Ulta’s commitment not only to Rare Beauty as a company but also to its broader mission.
The Rare Impact Fund focuses on expanding access to mental health resources for young people. Since its launch, the organization has helped raise more than $20 million and has supported 30 nonprofit partners across five continents, reaching over 2.2 million young people each year.
When asked what makes her feel most empowered, Gomez pointed to hands-on involvement within her community. She shared that connecting directly with people is what excites her most and said this upcoming phase of her life is centered on openness, inclusivity, and shared experiences.
Earlier this year, Gomez also made headlines when she attended the 2026 Golden Globe Awards alongside her husband, music producer Benny Blanco. The couple coordinated in elegant, old-Hollywood-inspired ensembles on the red carpet.
Gomez wore a custom Chanel gown featuring a black velvet bustier and intricate white floral embellishments crafted from feathers, silk chiffon, and silk organza. The couture piece took more than 300 hours to complete and included nearly 200 embroidered details, paired with Chanel heels and high jewelry. Her beauty look featured soft, short waves and a deep burgundy lip for a dramatic finish.
Blanco, 37, opted for a classic black suit, elevating the look with bold accessories. He wore a sparkling silver necklace, embellished loafers, and a Jacob & Co. timepiece adorned with more than 24 carats of diamonds, valued at approximately $700,000.
