Cyrus unveiled her album, set for release on May 30, with a haunting and ethereal new track.
Miley Cyrus has offered a first glimpse of her upcoming visual album, Something Beautiful!
The 32-year-old singer, known for her hit “Flowers,” is preparing to release the project—her first album since 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation—on May 30. As a surprise for fans on Monday, March 31, she debuted a preview with the track “Prelude.”
Haunting and ethereal, the opening song features Cyrus delivering spoken words over an enigmatic soundscape.
“Like wandering alone through a lucid dream / Like speaking your name into an empty space / Like seeing my own reflection in the mirror / Yearning to be seen, to feel real / Yet the beauty discovered in solitude / Is a prayer longing to be shared,” Cyrus recites as the music shifts.
In the accompanying visual, she dons a vintage 1997 Thierry Mugler couture piece. If it seems familiar, that’s because she also wears the ethereal ensemble on the album’s cover.
Cyrus co-directed the video alongside Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, with cinematography handled by Benoît Debie.
Something Beautiful will include 13 original tracks, with Cyrus serving as executive producer alongside Shawn Everett. The album has been described as “bold,” with a strong emphasis on visual storytelling.
This release follows the widespread critical acclaim of Endless Summer Vacation.
In February 2024, Cyrus won her first-ever Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance with her hit song “Flowers.” She secured a second Grammy in 2025, winning Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Beyoncé.
Recently, Cyrus has also reflected on one of her more controversial onstage moments.
During a conversation with her sister Brandi Cyrus for Spotify’s Billions Club series in November, Miley reflected on her infamous Teen Choice Awards performance of “Party in the U.S.A.” in 2009—when she controversially danced with a pole attached to an ice cream cart.
“This won’t come as a surprise to you. Do you know whose idea that was?” Miley asked Brandi, 37, who immediately guessed their mom, Tish Cyrus, was behind it.
