Miley Cyrus Gives a Nod to “a Couple of Exes” While Debuting New Song “More to Lose” Live in NYC

By Website Content Manager

The song is the newest release from her upcoming visual album Something Beautiful, which is set to drop on May 30.

Miley Cyrus made a playful yet heartfelt nod to some familiar faces during a recent performance in New York City.

On Saturday, May 3, the 32-year-old singer premiered her new song “More to Lose” at an intimate pre-Met Gala event held at Casa Cipriani. The track is part of her upcoming visual album Something Beautiful, which is set for release on May 30.

Before performing the song, Cyrus addressed the audience and acknowledged some special guests. “I have a lot of people that I’ve known and loved for a very long time in this room,” she said in fan-recorded footage shared on X. “Even a couple of exes.”

Cyrus—who was married to Liam Hemsworth for nearly two years before their 2020 split, and has also been linked to Nick Jonas, Stella Maxwell, and Cody Simpson—didn’t specify which former flames her comments were aimed at.

The “Prisoner” singer later shared a clip of her live performance of “More to Lose” on Instagram on Sunday, May 4.

In a recent clip, Miley Cyrus performed her new song “More to Lose,” singing, “You’re looking like a movie star / In a worn-out coat / So I throw away my mind / It happens all the time,” while dressed in a black dress, accompanied by dramatic piano keys.

Ahead of the performance, on Thursday, May 1, the Grammy winner teased the track on Instagram, singing a snippet in the same black dress while leaning on a piano. “Sharing this song from the same place it was created… at the piano. xoMC,” she captioned the post. “More to Lose. Coming Soon.”

Earlier this year, Cyrus released her single “End of the World,” from her upcoming visual album Something Beautiful. Co-written and co-produced by Molly Rankin of Alvvays, the track features the lyrics: “Let’s pretend it’s not the end of the world / (Oh, oh, oh, oh) The sky is fallin’, fallin’ like a comet now, oh, oh / Let’s pretend it’s not the end of the world.”

In March, Cyrus also dropped “Prelude,” the first preview of the highly anticipated album, which she executive-produced with Shawn Everett. The visual album will feature 13 original songs, marking a bold new chapter in her musical journey.

Miley Cyrus released her previous album, Endless Summer Vacation, in 2023.

In February 2024, she celebrated her first Grammy win, taking home the Best Pop Solo Performance award for her hit song “Flowers.” The track also earned her the prestigious Record of the Year award.
