Meghan Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabara, celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Mikey Moon, in January.

Meghan Trainor opened up honestly about her experience of welcoming a child through surrogacy.

The 32-year-old singer and her husband, Daryl Sabara, welcomed their daughter, Mikey Moon, in January with the help of a surrogate. Having previously carried their sons, Riley and Barry, herself, Trainor admitted that choosing a different path this time came with emotional challenges. Speaking on Not Gonna Lie, hosted by Kylie Kelce, she shared that the decision was not easy and involved many difficult conversations.

She explained that ongoing health concerns, including symptoms that were approaching an autoimmune condition, led them to consider surrogacy as the safest option. Even so, letting someone else carry her baby was emotionally taxing. Trainor described the constant worry she felt, saying that knowing her child was growing in another person made her anxious and overprotective, despite having a caring and communicative surrogate who kept them updated throughout the pregnancy.

Beyond those internal struggles, Trainor also anticipated negative reactions online. She admitted she avoided reading comments, already expecting criticism following previous backlash about changes in her appearance. The stress weighed heavily on her, and she recalled spending many nights overwhelmed with worry and emotion.

The Grammy winner said her main concern was protecting her daughter from judgment about how she entered the world. Fortunately, she leaned on a strong support system—including her team, therapist, and especially Sabara, who reassured her that they had made the healthiest choice for their family.

In the end, Trainor said the decision, though emotional, was the right one. She noted that not having to recover from another cesarean section allowed her to be more physically present for her newborn and her other children. While the journey came with fears and uncertainty, it also gave her the ability to fully engage with her family during those early moments.
