Duff is scheduled to drop her upcoming album, luck… or something, on Feb. 20.
Hilary Duff appears unfazed by recent chatter, turning her focus to new music instead.
The singer and actress, 38, previewed a sultry, unreleased track on Wednesday, Jan. 7—just a day after her husband, Matthew Koma, drew attention for inserting himself into an ongoing discussion about celebrity mom groups sparked by Ashley Tisdale.
Duff posted a video on social media that shows her dancing freely in a soft yellow dress, set against an open green field beneath a vivid blue sky. As she moves, she mouths the lyrics to the new song, which centers on longing for the excitement and intensity of the early days of a relationship once the initial spark has faded.
The lyrics reflect a desire to return to carefree, passion-filled moments, contrasting the thrill of new love with the emotional distance that can settle in over time.
Koma, also 38, showed his support in the comments, writing, “That’s my girl 🧡.”
The track appears to be the second release from Duff’s forthcoming album, luck… or something, which is scheduled to arrive on Feb. 20. She debuted the project’s first single, “Mature,” in November and is set to launch her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour in London later this month.
The upcoming record marks Duff’s first full-length album since 2015.
Duff’s musical tease arrives amid renewed public attention surrounding an essay Tisdale, 40, published in The Cut on Jan. 5, titled “Breaking Up with My Toxic Mom Group.”
While Tisdale did not name specific individuals in the piece, online fans quickly resurfaced past photos linking her to a group of mothers that included Duff, Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor, and food influencer Gaby Dalkin.
In the essay, Tisdale described repeated experiences of feeling left out and explained her decision to step away from the group.
The following day, Koma posted a satirical response on social media, sharing an image of himself digitally inserted into Tisdale’s Cut photoshoot. He paired it with a mock headline and subhead written from a fictional perspective, poking fun at the situation and adding fuel to the ongoing conversation.
