The former One Direction star was truly Ready to Run, crossing the finish line with an impressive sub-3:30 time.

Harry Styles’ standout performance at the Tokyo Marathon is truly a Sign of the Times—at least when it comes to his split times.

The three-time Grammy winner, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since wrapping Love on Tour in July 2023, made a rare public appearance on Sunday, March 1, hitting the streets of Tokyo for the city’s annual 26.2-mile race. With an impressive sub-3:30 finish, he outpaced more than 20,000 runners—all moving in, well, one direction toward the finish line.

Fan-captured videos on social media show Styles, 31, sporting all-black running gear paired with bright-yellow Nike road racers as he maintained a smooth stride.

In one clip, the Daylight singer flashed a thumbs-up to cheering fans as he ran past, smiling effortlessly along the way.

Styles completed the marathon with a net time of 3:24:07 (and a gross time of 3:37:19), according to preliminary results from the Tokyo Marathon’s official website.

For context, the race’s men’s champion, Tadese Takele, crossed the finish line with a net time of 2:03:23. Styles placed 6,010th out of the 26,706 runners who completed the course—an impressive feat for the Watermelon Sugar singer.

Compared to other celebrities who have tackled marathons, Runner’s World notes that Colin Farrell ran the 2021 Brisbane Marathon in 3:53:14, while Jennifer Connelly finished last year’s New York City Marathon in 3:45:47, just four seconds ahead of Chelsea Clinton, who clocked in at 3:45:51. Styles’ performance puts him well ahead of these times, solidifying his endurance on and off the stage.

More than 37,000 runners registered for Sunday’s event, which followed a route designed to “symbolize the past, present, and future of Tokyo,” according to the marathon’s official website.

Styles’ splits are where his performance truly stands out. He completed the first half of the marathon in 1:42:03 and maintained remarkable consistency with a near-identical second-half split of 1:42:04, as reported by Runner’s World.

The three-time Grammy winner averaged a pace of 7:47 per mile, with his fastest 5K split—23:16—coming between the 30K and 35K mark, showcasing his strong endurance and steady rhythm throughout the race.
