Benson Boone Cancels Birmingham Show at the Last Minute Due to Throat Issues: “The Crappiest Feeling”
Benson Boone is facing a health setback in the middle of his global tour.
On Saturday, November 1, the 23-year-old singer announced via Instagram Stories that his concert at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena would be postponed — less than an hour before showtime.
“I’m so sorry, but I won’t be able to perform tonight,” Boone told fans. “I’ve tried everything possible to get my voice back, but with the condition of my throat right now, I just can’t give you the kind of show I want to deliver.”
Calling the situation “the crappiest feeling,” the Beautiful Things singer said he and his team are already working on new dates for the American Heart World Tour. “I promise I’ll do everything I can to make it up to you,” he added. “I’ll update you as soon as I can. Thank you for all that you do — I love you guys so much.”
The singer-songwriter — well-known for his signature onstage backflips — had previously told PEOPLE that he was thrilled to take on a tour that felt “completely different” from anything he had done before.
“[We have] a much bigger stage than I’ve ever performed on, with small choreographed moments, upgraded outfits, and everyone more in sync,” Boone shared back in August. “We rehearsed for about two weeks — which might not sound like much, but for me, that’s a big deal.”
Despite the setback, Boone has more performances ahead, including a special one-night-only show at the Kennedy Space Center’s Rocket Garden on November 29. The event will also be livestreamed worldwide on TikTok.
