The young toddler shares a Grammy nomination with her mother in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category for their collaboration on the track “Hollywood,” which also features Earth, Wind & Fire.

Victoria Monét has a new reason to celebrate as the nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards were unveiled. The 34-year-old R&B singer received seven nominations, one of which is shared with her 2½-year-old daughter, Hazel.
Hazel is nominated alongside her mother for Best Traditional R&B Performance for their collaboration on the track “Hollywood,” featuring Earth, Wind & Fire. This historic nomination makes Hazel the youngest Grammy nominee ever.
In an interview with Billboard, Monét shared that Hazel’s reaction to the news was to be “on the phone watching Baby Shark.” Monét expressed her pride, noting that her daughter, although unaware of the significance, is an integral part of the achievement.
“She’s like, kind of panicking because she doesn’t know why we’re all screaming. I know I’ll be able to explain it to her when she gets older, and she’ll definitely appreciate it because she’s already into music and is starting to write songs unknowingly,” the artist added. “She’s making potty songs and all that kind of stuff. So I’m super excited that this will be something that she has forever. I’m already thinking about her wardrobe for the Grammys.”
Monét shared with PEOPLE in February that Hazel began showing an interest in music at an early age.
“I see her learning rhythm, trying to catch different cadences and what she’s attracted to in songs. I just really get re-inspired by that innocence and that curiosity about music,” she told PEOPLE.
Before Hazel’s historic nomination, the record for the youngest Grammy nominee was held by Leah Peasall of the Peasall Sisters. Leah was 8 years old when the album O Brother, Where Art Thou? earned a nomination and won Album of the Year at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards.
Prior to learning about the nominations, Monét shared her nervousness on X, formerly known as Twitter. She expressed her feelings, writing, “Whew I am so nervous it feels like draft day.”

The musician is in a relationship with John Gaines, and together they share Hazel. In December 2020, when announcing her pregnancy, Monét expressed her joy, stating that it was “absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“Two hearts beat inside of me now…That’s more love. Two brains and two souls…that’s so much power. Really been feelin like the ultra super Victoria cause my body is doing such miraculous work. This is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I can’t wait to meet my tiny soul mate earth side!!!” she wrote.
Earlier this month, Monét took to Instagram to reflect on the honor of receiving six Soul Train Awards nominations.
“WOOOO!! 🥹😭🤯 This feeling is really something…I am overwhelmed with gratitude!! 6 nominations?! WOW!!! Thank you sooo much @soultrain @bet for seeing me! 🤎🥲🙏🏾,” she expressed on Instagram.
