The music icon concluded his ‘My Way’ residency with a heartfelt final performance last Saturday.
Usher appeared to be truly immersed in the moment! The 45-year-old future Super Bowl halftime performer marked a significant career achievement on Saturday as he concluded his final performance for the My Way Las Vegas residency. In a poignant display during the rendition of the track “Without You,” the artist dropped to his knees, covering his face with his hands, while being surrounded by his on-stage crew of dancers and collaborators, marking the celebratory conclusion of his last residency show.
In a fan-recorded video from that night, Usher, shirtless and clad in silver pants, visibly became emotional and turned his back to the crowd at the Dolby Live — Park MGM.
After wiping away tears and celebrating with his crew, Usher eventually turned back to the audience, initiating an a cappella chant of the song while stomping his feet.
On stage during the final show of his residency, which began in July 2022, Usher expressed, “God bless you, I love you.”
Usher also marked the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), retweeting a clip from a 2004 interview with Trevor Nelson. In that conversation, Usher discussed the potential of a Vegas residency, emphasizing his commitment to delivering a phenomenal show if he were to ever pursue one, even during the height of his Confessions era.
“I am such a theatrical artist,” Usher stated in 2004. “I would love to be in a space… if I did decide to go to Las Vegas, it would be the most phenomenal thing you’ve ever seen in your life.”
Reflecting on the interview, Usher praised himself on Sunday, saying, “I saw it then… look at me now.”
Usher has been enjoying several celebratory moments lately, including his collaboration with Jungkook of BTS on a remix of his single “Standing Next to You.”
Promoting the track, originally part of Jungkook’s solo debut album Golden, Usher shared images of the duo on Instagram on Sunday. “Standing Next to You (Usher Remix) is OUT NOW!! Shoutout my brother Jung Kook @bts.bighitofficial 🙏🏾,” Usher wrote.
In another collaboration last month, Usher joined forces with Janelle Monáe, not for a new song, but for a touching moment during his enduring residency. Similar to his interactions with Doja Cat and Jessica Alba, Usher serenaded Monáe during the show.
During his performance of “Superstar,” Usher engaged in a slow dance with the fellow musician, and Monáe expressed that he had put on an “incredible show.”
