A federal judge in Los Angeles has issued a sentence to Kenneth Petty for breaching the conditions of his probation.

Nicki Minaj’s spouse, Kenneth Petty, has been placed under house arrest due to a violation of his probation terms. This violation reportedly involved Petty, aged 45, making threats towards rapper Offset, who is married to Cardi B, through social media, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
In court documents submitted on Wednesday, a federal judge in Los Angeles sentenced Petty to 120 days of house arrest. This decision was made after a video recording showed him “making threatening remarks toward a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record.”
The mentioned individual, although not explicitly named in the legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, is reported to be the rapper Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus.
The court filing noted that Kenneth Petty’s recent behavior has raised concerns about his willingness to adhere to the court’s directives. It stated that Petty’s probation officer believes that placing him in the Location Monitoring Program will enable more stringent monitoring of his actions, restrict his movements, serve as a consequence for his non-compliance, and prompt him to contemplate and reassess his standing within the community.
It’s worth mentioning that representatives for both Nicki Minaj and Offset have not provided an immediate response to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Minaj and Cardi B have had a history of disputes, both on social media and in person, with a notable altercation occurring at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party in 2018.
Kenneth Petty’s recent remarks were in violation of the probation terms imposed on him in July 2022. At that time, he had received a sentence of three years of probation and a year of in-home detention, as outlined by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. This sentencing was a result of Petty pleading guilty to the charge of failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California in 2020.
The requirement for him to register stemmed from his previous conviction for the first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995, for which he had received a sentence of 18 to 54 months and ultimately served four years in prison.
Notably, the alleged victim of the rape had previously filed a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj, aged 40, and her husband. In the lawsuit, she accused them of attempting to intimidate her into dropping her rape accusation in 2021. However, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the case against Minaj was subsequently dropped the following year.
The case against Nicki was voluntarily dismissed. The case against Kenneth Petty is still ongoing. Stay tuned!” stated Hough’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, as reported by PEOPLE at that time.
Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty initially crossed paths during high school but lost contact before reuniting in 2018. The couple tied the knot in October 2019 and celebrated the arrival of their son, affectionately nicknamed Papa Bear, on September 30, 2020.
