The recipient of last year’s Video Vanguard Award will grace the MTV stage with a performance of her latest single.

A beloved presence at the VMAs is making a comeback to the MTV stage.

The MTV Video Music Awards revealed on Friday that Nicki Minaj is slated to perform at the 2023 awards ceremony. The 40-year-old rapper will once again take on the role of emcee, just as she did in 2022, during the live broadcast from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on September 12.

The renowned hip-hop artist, who clinched the prestigious Video Vanguard Award last year, will debut her latest single, “Last Time I Saw You,” which was released in late August, with a live performance.

The rap royalty has left an indelible mark on VMA history with unforgettable performances of her chart-toppers, such as “Anaconda,” and by collaborating with fellow megastars like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, among others. This year, the artist who boasts a staggering 25 VMA nominations has clinched six Moon Person nods. Her nominations include Best Hip-Hop, Best Visual Effects, Video of the Year for “Super Freaky Girl,” Best R&B for her collaboration with Yung Bleu, “Love in the Way,” Song of the Summer for “Barbie World” with Ice Spice, and the coveted Artist of the Year award.

The rapper is undoubtedly having a momentous year, with the recent announcement of her fifth studio album, “Pink Friday 2,” and her contribution of the hit song “Barbie World” to the Barbie movie soundtrack earlier this summer. Fans are eagerly awaiting this highly anticipated album, which marks her first release since 2018’s “Queen” and is scheduled to drop on November 17th.

Minaj joins an impressive lineup of previously announced performers, including Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, Måneskin, Olivia Rodrigo, and Stray Kids. Notably, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Shakira, who are set to receive the Global Icon Award and Video Vanguard Award, respectively, will also take the stage.

The “Super Bass” artist recently provided her dedicated fanbase, the Barbz, with an update about her forthcoming album in late June. She unveiled the album’s title, which pays homage to her breakthrough 2010 debut album.

In a statement on social media, the Grammy nominee shared, “Dear Barbz, I’ve been trying to find the right time to tell you this for a few days. Due to some really exciting news that I’ll share with you guys at a later time, I’ve shifted the album date just a tad bit. Trust me, it’ll be WELL WORTH THE WAIT… but since I AM shifting the date just a tad, I’d like to give you guys a tiny SIP of some more album tea so that I don’t have to get cussed out so… here it goes: MY NEW ALBUM WILL BE RELEASED ON 11.17.23 – and she shall be called: #PinkFriday2.”

She went on to express her deep affection for her fans, stating, “I love you guys so much. I am so grateful for the years of support & love you guys have given me. At times, maybe I didn’t even deserve all that you have poured into me. Nonetheless, you. will. love. this. album. I will provide details about the tour closer to that time, but it’s evident that the tour will kick off in the first quarter of 2024. I’ll also reveal the actual album cover at a later date.”

The rapper, known as “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” revealed the official album artwork on her Instagram on Tuesday, shortly after dropping her single “Last Time I Saw You” last week.
