Watch Ariana Grande Hilariously Sing About Her Height: ‘10 of Me Stacked Up Equals One of Shaq’

“And yes, my name is Grande—it’s ironic that I’m small / People ask me, ‘Where’s your mom?’ while I’m walking through the mall,” Grande playfully sang.

One thing Ariana Grande never falls short on? Her vocal talent.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Feb. 5, the Oscar-nominated singer took on a unique challenge—performing an original song with an unexpected twist.

“Your test tonight, should you choose to accept it, is to sing a song you’ve never seen the lyrics to or heard the music for,” Kimmel announced. “It’s time to wing it and sing it!”

Accompanied by a pianist dressed in angel wings, Grande, 31, performed lyrics she had never seen before, reading from cue cards held by Kimmel, 57.

“I am a strong, successful woman who always stands up tall,” she sang confidently—until she realized where the song was going. Suddenly, her tone shifted in surprise as she continued, “Even though I am, in fact, so very, very small.”

At just 5’1″, Grande playfully embraced the joke, singing about being a “human baby carrot” and a “lady Pikachu.” She then burst into laughter as she belted out, “10 of me stacked up equals one of Shaq,” referencing NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who stands at 7’1″.

The Victorious alum continued the playful tune, singing about her struggles with height—like not being able to reach elevator buttons, resembling an Oompa Loompa, fitting inside a hamster wheel, and even using a sock as a bed.

“And yes, my name is Grande, it’s ironic that I’m small / People will ask me, ‘Where is your mom?’ while walking through the mall,” she added, glancing into the audience as if searching for her mother.

Despite the jokes, Grande kept the energy upbeat, confidently belting, “But I don’t let it bother me, you’ll never see me frown / ‘Cause I’m defying gravity, and you can’t pull me down”—a clever nod to the iconic Wicked anthem.
