The 12-song record is set to drop on Friday, Oct. 3.
Taylor Swift is already setting records with her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.
Ahead of its release on Friday, Oct. 3, the 14-time Grammy winner made Spotify history on Sunday, Aug. 3. The streaming platform revealed via Instagram that The Life of a Showgirl has become the most pre-saved album on a Countdown Page in Spotify’s history.
Spotify first rolled out the Countdown Page on Aug. 14, along with a special playlist titled And, baby, that’s show business for you. The 22-track collection highlights songs Swift created with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, pulling from albums like 1989, Red and Reputation.
At the time of reporting, that playlist had already been saved more than 440,000 times.
At 35, Taylor Swift continues to dominate Spotify’s charts. In 2024, she was crowned the platform’s top global artist for the second consecutive year, amassing over 26.6 billion streams. Her album The Tortured Poets Department also claimed the title of the year’s most-streamed album.
Her 2019 track “Cruel Summer” proved its lasting power, securing the No. 9 spot on Spotify’s list of the 10 most-streamed songs worldwide.
Upon receiving the news last December, Swift expressed her excitement on Instagram Stories: “Top Streamed Artist AND Album on @spotify this year?! You guys are unbelievable. What an amazing thing to find out going into our last weekend of Eras shows 💋 THANK YOU!”
The “So High School” singer also surprised fans when she announced her 12th studio album during her first appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.
During the reveal, Swift showcased the album’s cover and tracklist, which features songs such as “Elizabeth Taylor,” “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Eldest Daughter,” “Actually Romantic,” and the title track, “The Life of a Showgirl,” featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
Describing the inspiration behind the project, Swift said, “This album is about what was happening behind the scenes in my inner world during this tour. It was such an exuberant, electric, and vibrant time in my life.” She emphasized that the record reflects the joy, drama, and energy she felt between stops on the Eras Tour.
She also discussed the creative direction for the visuals, which include imagery of her partly submerged in a glittering outfit, set against hues of mint green and shimmering orange. “My day usually ends with me in a bathtub—not normally in a sequined gown,” she joked. “I wanted to glamorize different aspects of what the tour felt like. That’s what it felt like at the end of the night when everything had unfolded.”
