Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour has officially come to a close.
The 14-time Grammy winner wrapped up the career-spanning tour on Sunday, Dec. 8, at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium, marking the end of a monumental series of performances that left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape.
Throughout the evening, Swift expressed heartfelt gratitude to her fans for their support.
“I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date — my beloved Eras Tour,” she said in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) before performing the closing track, “Karma.”
Earlier in the night, during her final “Lover” speech, Swift reflected on the journey. “We have toured the entire world… we have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” she shared, as seen in a fan-captured video on X.
Swift also celebrated a major milestone, adding, “We’ve gotten to perform for over 10 million people on this tour.”
The New York Times reports that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour generated a staggering $2,077,618,725 in ticket sales, a figure provided by her production company, Taylor Swift Touring. This total is “double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history,” according to the outlet.
The company reported that 10,168,008 people attended the concerts. According to the New York Times, Coldplay ranks just behind Swift, with their Music of the Spheres World Tour, which began in March 2022 and is set to run until September 2025, earning $1 billion in ticket sales from 156 shows.
At Sunday’s performance, fans also celebrated Swift’s upcoming 35th birthday, singing “Happy Birthday” to her ahead of the special occasion on Friday, December 13.
After a recent stop on the Eras Tour in Toronto, Swift shared on Instagram that emotions had become “pretty heightened.” She explained, “It’s gotten extremely real for us: Our next city will be the last one of The Eras Tour, marking the end of the most extraordinary chapter of my life so far.”
Swift began her Eras Tour in March 2023, performing 152 shows across numerous cities on five continents.
In April, the “Fortnight” artist released The Tortured Poets Department. The next month, she surprised fans in Paris by adding a new segment and choreography to feature the Grammy-nominated album.
Throughout her tour, Swift was joined by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who attended her shows in Australia, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Paris, Dublin, and Singapore.
In June, he surprised fans during one of Swift’s London performances by joining her onstage for the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” costume change skit.
Recently, Swift was named the global top artist of the year on Spotify Wrapped for the second consecutive year. Both Apple Music Replay and Amazon Music also ranked her and The Tortured Poets Department at the top of their 2024 year-end lists.
