Taylor Swift took home the Artist of the Year award at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The ceremony, held on March 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, featured Alysa Liu as the presenter. Liu, who previously introduced Swift alongside Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito as the “Blade Angels” in a promotional video for the 2026 Olympics, handed Swift multiple honors that evening—including the night’s top award.
During her acceptance speech, Swift praised Liu, saying her dedication and passion had brought joy and inspiration not only to her personally but to audiences worldwide. She then reflected on her own journey, sharing how her love for songwriting began as a simple pastime rather than something she initially viewed as a career.
Swift recalled spending countless hours as a young teenager practicing her craft in private, experimenting and learning through mistakes without public scrutiny. She contrasted that experience with today’s environment, where people often receive instant feedback—both positive and negative—on everything they share online.
Addressing the audience, she encouraged them to protect and develop their passions away from constant outside judgment. Swift emphasized the importance of allowing time for growth, mistakes, and improvement, noting that creative skills take patience and persistence to refine.
She also expressed concern about the impact of online criticism, explaining that while the mind absorbs what it is exposed to, the internet can sometimes be harsh toward creative expression. Because of this, she urged aspiring creators to safeguard their dreams.
Closing her speech, Swift thanked her supporters for enabling her to turn a simple hobby into a lifelong passion and successful career, and she wished others the same fulfillment in their pursuits.
Other nominees for Artist of the Year included Bad Bunny, Benson Boone, Chris Brown, Jelly Roll, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tate McRae.
Swift’s win capped off an extraordinary year in which she regained ownership of her master recordings, released her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, and debuted both a Disney+ docuseries and a concert film. The album achieved massive commercial success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and setting multiple records, including becoming her 15th chart-topping album and one of the fastest-selling releases in recent history.
