Selena Gomez Taps into Nostalgia—With Help from Benny Blanco—for Her New Oreo Flavor Collaboration

By Website Content Manager

PEOPLE has the exclusive scoop on why the star decided to team up with Oreo—despite rarely partnering with brands—and the heartfelt inspiration behind the nostalgic new flavor.

Selena Gomez Unveils Her Nostalgic Oreo Collaboration: “It Had to Feel Genuine”

Selena Gomez is making sure her latest treat hits the right notes—literally and flavorfully—with a new limited-edition Oreo cookie.

PEOPLE exclusively shares that the singer and actress, now 32, has teamed up with the beloved cookie brand to launch a sandwich cookie inspired by flavors from her youth.

Speaking with PEOPLE, the Only Murders in the Building star explained why she agreed to collaborate with Oreo, despite rarely taking on brand deals, and how the nostalgic taste came to life.

“I’m really intentional when choosing brand partnerships—it has to genuinely reflect who I am,” said the Rare Beauty founder. She shared that she’s always had a personal connection to the brand. “Like so many others, I’ve loved Oreo cookies since I was a kid, so when the chance came to create my own flavor, it was an easy yes.” She also noted that the collaboration gave her a new way to connect with fans—something that felt unlike anything she’s done before.

Selena Gomez Infuses Her Culture and Childhood Into New Oreo Flavor—and Benny Blanco Helped Taste-Test

Selena Gomez’s new limited-edition Oreo flavor is more than just a sweet treat—it’s a nostalgic tribute to her roots and childhood memories.

The exclusive cookie collection features six unique embossments tied to Gomez, including her autograph and one that reads “Selenators,” a nod to her devoted fanbase. The cookie itself is layered with chocolate and cinnamon cream along with sweetened condensed milk cream, all held together by chocolate cinnamon-flavored wafers. The flavor is meant to evoke the taste of horchata—a traditional Mexican drink made from milk, ground rice, and cinnamon—which Gomez says holds deep personal meaning.

“My goal was to create a bite that sparks a feeling of comfort, even for those who’ve never had horchata before,” she shared. “It’s always been one of my favorite drinks and part of some of my best childhood memories with my family.”

She encourages fans to take one extra step when enjoying the cookie: “It’s even better when dipped in milk. That really pulls all the flavors together.”

When it came to developing the flavor, Gomez said she took the process seriously. “Taste-testing was hands down the most fun part,” she said. “I wanted to make sure the balance was just right—not overpowering with cinnamon, but still sweet enough from the condensed milk. I really aimed for perfection.”

Helping her along the way was her fiancé, music producer and cookbook author Benny Blanco. “Benny was there for some of the sampling—and he’s a big fan of how it turned out,” Gomez said with a smile.

But the project has a deeper purpose. As part of the partnership, Oreo is contributing to the Rare Impact Fund, the nonprofit Gomez founded in 2020 to expand access to mental health services for young people. “That’s what means the most to me about this whole collaboration,” she said, expressing hope that it will help move the organization closer to its goal of raising $100 million.
