Sabrina Carpenter is overwhelmed after sharing the stage with her idol Taylor Swift!
In a heartfelt post on Saturday, Carpenter, aged 24, expressed disbelief that her 9-year-old self would never have imagined performing with Swift, aged 34.
The duo collaborated during Friday’s Eras Tour concert in Sydney after Carpenter’s opening act was canceled due to inclement weather.
Posting a clip of their performance on Instagram, Carpenter shared a touching message for Swift. “9-year-old Sabrina singing ‘White Horse’ would never see this coming! I love you so, so dearly Taylor. Always have, always will,” she wrote.
She concluded with gratitude towards Sydney for the warm reception and anticipation for her performance as Swift’s opener on Saturday.
Carpenter reaffirmed her lifelong dedication to being a Swiftie by including a screenshot of a social media post she made at the age of 9 back in August 2009, where she expressed her desire to meet Swift.
The post read, “Was trying to enter a Taylor Swift contest to win tickets and a chance to meet her but they said I had to be 13 :(.”
In the posted clip, Carpenter and Swift were seated next to each other by a piano adorned with flowers as they delighted excited fans at Accor Stadium with a medley of “White Horse” and “Coney Island.” The clip concluded with the two singers leaning against each other, sharing fond smiles.
Another image featured in the carousel post depicted Swift embracing Carpenter by the piano following their duet performance.
During Friday night’s concert, Swift delighted attendees by inviting Carpenter onstage to perform with her after revealing a new version of her forthcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, at the Sydney show.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Swift addressed the audience while seated at the piano, stating, “It’s good to have options. Everyone likes options, you know. I wanted to show you something if you will direct your attention to the main screen.”
“This serves as an alternative cover for The Tortured Poet’s Department,” she announced to the enthusiastic crowd. “Hence, this edition is dubbed ‘The Albatross’ due to an exclusive bonus track on this vinyl titled ‘The Albatross,’ and I’m eager for you to experience it.”
Swift then invited Carpenter onto the stage. “Allow me to introduce my incredibly talented, delightful, stunning, witty, and brilliant opening act, Sabrina Carpenter,” she declared. “She graciously made way for my show, which I believe is an injustice to Sydney. It’s time to make it right, so I’m inviting her out now, Sydney, are you ready for that?”
The audience erupted with approval as Carpenter joined Swift onstage. Meanwhile, from the VIP tent, Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce observed the performance, accompanied by fellow artists and guests Katy Perry and Rita Ora.
