“Keep my name out of this,” the 26-year-old Juno artist replied to the official White House post.
Sabrina Carpenter is making it clear she does not approve of the Trump administration using her song.
While on her Short n’ Sweet Tour, the 26-year-old pop singer often staged a playful bit during performances of her 2024 track “Juno,” jokingly “arresting” an audience member — sometimes even a celebrity.
But on Monday, Dec. 1, that same song was featured in a video posted by the Trump administration to promote ICE detentions.
“Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye,” the official White House account wrote on X, quoting a lyric from the tune.
Carpenter fired back the next day, Tuesday, Dec. 2, condemning the administration’s use of her music. “This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever use me or my songs to support your inhumane agenda,” she wrote on X.

In a statement sent to PEOPLE on Dec. 2, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson responded, saying, “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we will not apologize for removing dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from this country. Anyone defending these monsters is either stupid — or maybe just slow.”
Though Carpenter made it clear she had not authorized the White House to use “Juno” and publicly denounced its inclusion in the video, it’s uncertain whether she plans to take any additional steps.
Many musicians have voiced outrage over Donald Trump using their songs for political messaging, including Céline Dion, Bruce Springsteen, Linkin Park, Neil Young, and others.
Just last month, Olivia Rodrigo criticized the administration for using her music in support of its immigration policies. According to Rolling Stone, the White House and DHS used her track “All-American Bitch” in a video encouraging self-deportation.
The clip featured ICE officers detaining undocumented migrants, alongside the message: “If ICE finds you, LEAVE NOW and self-deport using the CBP Home app. If you don’t, you will face the consequences.”
Rodrigo, 22, responded in a comment later removed, writing: “Never use my music to push your racist, hateful propaganda.”
