The tour is featured in a new Netflix documentary, set to release on October 29.
Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour may be her second, but she still felt “terrified” before taking the stage at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California, in February 2024.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour Netflix documentary premiere on October 25, the 21-year-old “Get Him Back!” singer admitted, “I was like, ‘I should have rehearsed more… like I needed three more weeks to rehearse this thing.’” Despite her nerves, she added, “But I was like, ‘Oh well, I’m gonna go on.'”
After the show, Rodrigo shared “such a beautiful moment” backstage with her parents and friends.
“I remember coming off stage, and my mom, dad, and all my friends were there cheering me on,” she recalls. “We popped champagne, and it was such a beautiful moment. I’ll remember it forever.”
Rodrigo also admits that during the early shows, her hands were trembling from nerves while playing the piano. “I was so scared that I was going to mess up,” she tells PEOPLE. “But by the last shows, I felt like I could really just settle in and enjoy myself.”
The GUTS World Tour documentary, directed by James Merryman, will debut on Netflix on October 29.
“I am so excited to share the GUTS World Tour with my fans,” Rodrigo said in a statement when the special was announced earlier this month. “For those of you who didn’t get a chance to rock out in person, now you can have the best seats in the house! And to the fans who cheered, screamed, and danced with me, I am so glad we get to do it all over again!”
The GUTS World Tour began in Palm Springs on February 23, featuring Chappell Roan as Rodrigo’s opening act, along with performances by The Breeders, Remi Wolf, PinkPantheress, and Benee throughout the tour.
