Miley Cyrus Says Her Next Album Will Tell a ‘Love Story’ Inspired by Her Life Right Now

By Website Content Manager

Miley Cyrus is turning to love as the inspiration for her next musical chapter.

The 33-year-old singer opened up about the project while sitting down with actress Daryl Hannah for Wonderland. During the conversation, published Monday, July 27, Cyrus described the forthcoming record as a “love story,” while emphasizing that the subject goes far beyond romance.

“This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered,” Cyrus explained. She added that the album contains a romantic element because, like her previous projects, it reflects what she has been experiencing personally.

Cyrus, who is engaged to musician Maxx Morando, said the record carries additional significance because the feeling inspiring it has remained present throughout several stages of her life.

She explained that experiencing a steady and peaceful form of love is something new for her and has become a recurring idea throughout her most recent albums.

The singer also said her understanding of love has expanded beyond her relationship with another person. She has developed a deeper sense of love and acceptance toward herself as well.

“That’s probably been the biggest evolution,” Cyrus said. She noted that changing the way a person relates to themselves can also transform their connections with everyone around them. In her view, the new album recognizes the importance of both kinds of love.

For Cyrus, love is also something that cannot always be neatly explained.

She described it as “dynamic and complex,” saying people can experience it profoundly without necessarily being able to put the feeling into words or rationalize it intellectually.

“To me, love isn’t something we have to intellectualize. It’s a cellular understanding,” she said.

Cyrus has not yet officially announced the title or release details for her upcoming 10th studio album. However, she reportedly played several songs from the project for Hannah, 65, ahead of their interview.

The new music follows Something Beautiful, Cyrus’ ninth studio album, which arrived in 2025. Earlier this year, she also revisited one of the defining roles of her career when she participated in a 20th-anniversary celebration of Hannah Montana that aired on Disney+.

Cyrus’ personal life has also entered a new chapter. A source confirmed in December 2025 that she and Morando, 27, were engaged. The couple began dating in 2021.

Morando, who plays with the band Liily, later discussed their engagement in a separate Wonderland interview.

According to the musician, the proposal took place during a trip to Kyoto, Japan. The trip was particularly memorable because neither he nor Cyrus had previously visited the country, despite both wanting to go for years.

Morando said there had been conversations about proposing before they traveled, but he attempted to keep his plans under wraps. Eventually, he chose a small garden near the end of their trip as the setting to ask Cyrus to marry him.
