Miley Cyrus has immense admiration for Beyoncé.
After joining the music icon on stage in Paris last month to perform their duet “II Most Wanted” during the Cowboy Carter Tour, Cyrus, 32, opened up about her respect and affection for the 35-time Grammy winner during an interview with Chris Olsen on SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio.
Cyrus described Beyoncé as a “top-tier” talent, likening the experience of watching her live to seeing legendary performers like Prince or Michael Jackson. “She’s everything you’d hope for — both onstage and off,” said the Flowers singer, emphasizing Beyoncé’s natural poise and strong sense of self.
“She truly deserves the queen-like energy that surrounds her,” Cyrus added. “There’s a seamless connection between her stage presence and who she is personally — it’s always felt authentic and well balanced.”
She went on to say that Beyoncé’s stage persona feels like a more amplified, artistic expression of her real-life self.
Reflecting on her early exposure to Beyoncé’s music, Cyrus recalled hearing Destiny’s Child for the first time thanks to a childhood karaoke machine gifted by her grandfather. “It came loaded with a few songs, and one of them was ‘Survivor,’” she said. “I used to perform it all the time. Honestly, my whole life feels like a manifestation of those early moments.”
She noted the same machine also featured Blondie’s “The Tide Is High,” which felt serendipitous to her. “It’s like it already knew the kind of girl I was — giving me both Destiny’s Child and Debbie Harry. Somehow, that combination shaped who I’ve become,” she reflected.
On June 19, Cyrus surprised fans at Paris’ Stade de France, taking the stage with Beyoncé for their duet. After the performance, she shared a heartfelt tribute to the “Texas Hold ’Em” singer on Instagram.
“@beyonce — sharing the stage with such a gracious, iconic DIVA was a dream,” she wrote. “Thank you for letting me perform with you in Paris and sing our song about friendship.”
She added: “To have admired you all my life and then stand beside you in matching gold outfits was more than I ever imagined. Ending this trip in such a spectacular way — with a stadium full of people singing ‘II Most Wanted’ — felt like the perfect grand finale.”
