Michelle Branch made a surprise appearance at Maren Morris’ recent Nashville concert, giving fans an unexpected collaboration.
On Saturday, Aug. 15, the “Everywhere” singer joined Morris at the Ryman Auditorium as Morris marked the 10th anniversary of her major-label debut album, Hero. The two artists performed Branch’s 2001 hit “Goodbye to You” together.
Before bringing Branch onto the stage, Morris praised her as an important influence on her musical journey. She explained that, despite being close in age, Branch helped make pursuing a career in music feel achievable for her.
Morris also reflected on her younger self watching MTV and TRL, saying she never would have imagined that she would one day perform alongside Branch while playing her childhood guitar. She revealed that she had approached Branch about recording “Goodbye to You,” and the pair apparently went ahead with the idea.
Video shared on Instagram showed Morris singing alongside Branch during the chorus. Morris performed barefoot in a sheer white dress over black clothing, while Branch wore a leather jacket, skirt and combat boots.
Branch later revealed that Morris had created a new interpretation of “Goodbye to You” for her upcoming Everywhere and Back Again EP. She expressed her excitement about the collaboration and called it an honor to perform with Morris during the anniversary concert.
Branch also praised Morris for her songwriting and vocal abilities. She explained that hearing a more mature woman interpret lyrics she originally wrote as a teenager gave the song an entirely different emotional meaning. Branch added that Morris delivers a powerful vocal performance and said she was eager for fans to hear the finished version.
The surprise collaboration came shortly before Branch announced another major update regarding her own music career. On Tuesday, Aug. 18, she revealed 17 additional dates for the second leg of her sold-out Everywhere and Back Again Tour, following an already sold-out fall schedule.
The newly announced shows will begin Feb. 25 in Charleston, South Carolina. The tour will then stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Feb. 27, Los Angeles’ The Wiltern on March 13 and New York City’s Beacon Theatre on March 25.
Artist presales are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. local time. Live Nation and Ticketmaster presales, where available, will follow at noon. Local and venue presales will start Thursday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m., with presales ending at 10 p.m. that evening.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. local time.
