Lady Gaga Makes a Triumphant Return to Rio de Janeiro for a Concert 7 Years After Hospitalization: ‘Prepare for Chaos on the Beach!’

The 14-time Grammy winner is set to release her album Mayhem on Friday, March 7.

Lady Gaga is making her return to Rio de Janeiro.

On Friday, Feb. 21, the Disease singer announced that she will take the stage at Copacabana Beach on May 3, marking her first performance there since 2012.

The concert is part of Todo Mundo no Rio, a new initiative aimed at hosting large-scale events to celebrate the power of entertainment, similar to Madonna’s Celebration Tour finale in 2024.

This performance also comes seven years after Gaga was forced to cancel her appearance at the Rock in Rio music festival due to hospitalization for “severe physical pain.”

“It’s a tremendous honor to be invited to perform for Rio—Brazilian fans have been an essential part of the Little Monsters’ lifeblood throughout my career,” Gaga shared on X. “I’ve been eager to perform for you for years and was devastated when I had to cancel due to hospitalization. Your support and understanding during that time meant everything to me.”

“Now, I’m returning, feeling better than ever, and working tirelessly to make this a show you’ll never forget. Get ready for MAYHEM on the beach.”

Gaga’s upcoming album, Mayhem, is set for release on March 7.

After announcing on X that she wouldn’t be performing at Rock in Rio, Gaga took to Instagram to express her heartbreak.

“Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough to come to Rock in Rio. I would do anything for you, but I have to take care of my body right now,” she wrote.

She continued, “I ask for your grace and understanding and promise that I will return to perform for you soon. I’m so sorry, and I love you so much.”

In a separate Instagram post, Gaga showcased her Rio tattoo on the back of her neck, which she revealed was “written by children in the favelas.”
