Lady Gaga Praises ‘Mayhem’ Producer Andrew Watt as a Rare Musical Talent

Lady Gaga is full of admiration for Andrew Watt, who co-wrote and executive produced her upcoming album Mayhem.

In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, the “Abracadabra” singer described Watt — known for his work with legendary artists such as Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Post Malone, Justin Bieber, and Pearl Jam — as a “uniquely gifted producer and musician.”

“Everything he creates comes from a genuine love for music and for the people behind it,” Gaga, 39, said. “You can sense how deeply it’s influenced his entire life. He breathes it in a way that’s rare, even among artists.”

The Grammy winner went on to praise Watt’s musicianship, saying his ability to “truly play” brings “an entirely new dimension” to their recording sessions.

“With Andrew, the process feels boundless,” she added. “His instincts, taste, and understanding of sonic history make him one of the most dynamic collaborators in modern music.”

Watt, 34, served as both executive producer and co-writer of Mayhem, working alongside Gaga and her fiancé and creative partner, Michael Polansky.

Speaking to PEOPLE himself, Watt reflected on their creative chemistry, saying it was “so much fun to make dance music and just laugh and smile” with the “Disease” artist.

“Gaga and Michael invited me to their home before we even started the record,” Watt recalled. “It was right after our collaboration with the Rolling Stones on ‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven.’ I played them a few ideas, and from there, the inspiration just started flowing.”

Soon after, the trio began recording together in the studio.

“She’s explored so many styles throughout her career — there’s really nothing she can’t do,” Watt said. “When we started making this album, we found ourselves drawing from all those influences.”

He added that Gaga’s constant evolution and tireless work ethic stood out during the process. “Her drive is unmatched,” he said. “It became clear very quickly that what we were creating was a dance record.”

Watt also returned the compliment, describing Gaga as “an incredible musician, a brilliant producer, and a true visionary.”
