During the second night of her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas, Kelly Clarkson poked fun at a potential outfit mishap, joking with the crowd about her nipple covers slipping due to the heat.
In a TikTok video from her July 12 performance, the 43-year-old singer addressed the sticky situation under her shirt. “It’s like a Slip-n-Slide under here,” she quipped. “I’ve got these pasties on because I’ve got a quick change coming, and I can’t have lines showing.”
She then motioned toward her torso, adding with a laugh, “You might suddenly see boobs on this stage. It’s that hot. Maybe this is the night it all falls apart.”
Right before launching into her next song, the American Idol alum paused to give the audience a cheeky heads-up about what might be an unforgettable moment. “If it happens, I’ll just shimmy and own it,” she joked, playfully shaking her chest. “Anyone here single? Interested? Just kidding.”
(Clarkson filed for divorce from music manager Brandon Blackstock in 2020 after seven years of marriage; their split was finalized in 2022.)
She also gave a shout-out to her kids — daughter River, 11, and son Remington “Remy,” 9 — joking that they were probably mortified. “I’m sure I’m totally embarrassing them right now,” she said with a smile. “‘Mom, stop talking.’ But hey, it builds character. You’re welcome.”
Clarkson’s Studio Sessions at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace officially began on July 11, after being delayed from its original July 4 kickoff due to vocal strain caused by intense rehearsals.
Following the delay, she reassured fans on Instagram, and a source told PEOPLE that she was heartbroken about postponing. “She didn’t want to cancel anything,” the insider said. “She was so excited about the residency and really wanted to connect with her fans.”
As someone who’s had her fair share of onstage fashion snafus, Clarkson isn’t shy about sharing those stories. In an April episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, she recalled nearly losing her skirt mid-performance.
“The clip broke, and it just dropped,” she said. “I was going commando, and it was a long skirt, so it was like — ‘Oh, okay!’ I dropped so fast to the ground.”
