The singer admitted that she is “not at my best” after enduring two difficult years that have “taken a toll” on her.
Jessie J is stepping back from social media as she takes time to focus on her well-being following what she describes as an intense and transformative two years.
The 38-year-old singer opened up about her decision in an Instagram post on Sept. 7, reassuring followers that she is doing okay despite not feeling like she is at her strongest.
“I want to start this post off by saying I am ok. I am not at my best but very far from my worst,” she wrote, acknowledging that posts about personal struggles can sometimes be misunderstood or taken out of context.
The accompanying video showed Jessie performing, a moment she said reminded her of how deeply she loves music. She also reflected on getting older, describing herself as fortunate to be alive and able to age naturally.
Looking back on the past two years, Jessie said the period had brought a mixture of major accomplishments, personal challenges and life-changing experiences. She described the time as magical and successful, but also extremely demanding, saying it taught her more than ever about herself and the kind of life she wants to lead.
Among the major events she highlighted were releasing her first album in eight years, relocating from the U.S. to the U.K., battling breast cancer, touring internationally, experiencing a breakup and raising her young son. She also joked about handling her own social media, styling, hair and makeup on a daily basis.
Jessie was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in June 2025. After undergoing a mastectomy, she revealed in May that she was cancer-free. The following month, she and Chanan Safir Colman announced that they had ended their relationship. The former couple share a 3-year-old son, Sky.
Jessie acknowledged that it would be surprising if everything she had experienced hadn’t affected her. She explained that the previous two years had taken an emotional and personal toll in areas she hadn’t been able to properly address.
With her workload now easing, Jessie said she wants to use the opportunity to focus on healing.
The singer explained that she is temporarily stepping away from the online world so she can reconnect with her life away from social media. Her priorities include undergoing her second cancer reconstruction surgery, getting more rest, processing everything she has experienced and spending meaningful time with herself and her son.
Jessie said she wants to nurture the next stage of her life while making a conscious effort to stay present and fully experience it.
