flowerovlove Opens Up About Debut Album Mini Skirt Warrior and Names Her Favorite One Direction Member: Niall Horan

The rising pop artist officially released her debut album, Mini Skirt Warrior, on Friday, Aug. 28.

The British-Ivorian singer, songwriter and model was only 6 when she watched Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never, the documentary chronicling his rise and his performance at Madison Square Garden. Seeing his journey sparked something in her, and she immediately knew she wanted to pursue a similar path.

“I want to do exactly that,” she remembers thinking at the time.

Cissé grew up in London and eventually entered the modeling world after being discovered on the street. Her modeling career included work with Gucci and a role as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton. Despite those accomplishments, she realized that modeling alone wasn’t fulfilling the creative ambitions she had carried since childhood.

Music soon became her outlet. She started creating songs in her garage and posting clips on TikTok and Instagram. Her online presence grew quickly, with her song “Breaking News” eventually becoming the soundtrack for more than 1.9 million TikTok videos.

At 18, Cissé signed with Capitol Records and released several EPs during the following years. Although songwriting had already become an important part of her life, she hadn’t originally planned to create a full-length album. Eventually, however, the songs came together into her first LP.

On Friday, Aug. 28, she officially released Mini Skirt Warrior, her debut album featuring a mix of emotional, personal material and upbeat bubblegum-pop tracks designed to make listeners dance.

Looking back on her upbringing, Cissé says she always felt there was a bigger world waiting for her. She spent her early years in a quieter area of London before moving to a busier part of the city at age 10. Even as a child, she felt different from those around her and believed she was destined for something beyond the environment she knew.

She describes her childhood home as a place filled with happiness and music. Because her parents are from Ivory Coast, African music played a major role in her upbringing, while her own interests ranged widely.

Her musical influences were equally diverse. Cissé grew up listening to disco, Bollywood music and artists such as Boney M., ABBA and Donna Summer. One Direction was another major part of her childhood listening, while her love for bands eventually expanded to groups such as Tame Impala.

She credits Tame Impala with helping her realize that making music was something she genuinely wanted to pursue. Donna Summer has also remained a major influence, particularly on music she plans to release after Mini Skirt Warrior. Cissé speaks about Summer with deep affection, describing the legendary singer as a maternal figure in her musical life.

Beyond music, Cissé has also built a strong social-media connection with fans, including creating TikTok content with her mother. Her growing career has brought unexpected support from fellow artists as well, while collaborations such as her work with WILLOW have further expanded her creative world.
