Ed Sheeran Sings to a Passing Jogger During a Canal Video Shoot: ‘Any Requests?’

A lucky fan in the U.K. received an unexpected treat during a run—a private performance from Ed Sheeran.
In an Instagram video shared on Tuesday, Sept. 17, the 33-year-old singer is shown drifting along a canal on a boat, filming a video. He spots a lone runner jogging beside the boat on the path and greets them with a cheerful “Hi!” before waving and asking, “Any requests?”
As the runner adjusts her speed to match the boat, she asks, “Can you play ‘Tenerife Sea’?” Sheeran promptly starts singing the popular song and playing it on his acoustic guitar. The runner quickly takes out her phone to capture the memorable moment.
Once the song concludes, Sheeran happily waves and says, “Enjoy the rest of your run,” as the runner continues her journey.
Sheeran later shared the video on social media with the caption: “Was recording a video on the canal today and played a request. If anyone knows who the runner is, let me know so we can get their perspective video for fun.”
Within 10 minutes of Sheeran’s post, the runner, who was later identified as Nikki Atkins through her Instagram profile, shared her own video of the encounter on her Instagram Stories. Her profile has since been set to private.
In her post, she expressed her gratitude with the message, “@teddysphotos This was such a surprise and incredibly beautiful. Thank you so much 🙏.”
