Camila Cabello Remembers Being Trapped in an Elevator with Lil Nas X for an ‘Entire Hour’ and ‘Freaking Out’

“It definitely brought us closer. There’s nothing like sharing a traumatic experience during a single release,” commented Cabello about her collaboration with “He Knows” artist Lil Nas X.

Camila Cabello and Lil Nas X recently faced a nightmare situation.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Cabello disclosed that she and Lil Nas X found themselves stuck in her building’s elevator “for a good hour” while en route to promote their latest collaboration, “He Knows,” at a gay nightclub in Los Angeles.

“Panic attacks were rampant,” reminisced the former Fifth Harmony member about the incident, which unfolded as they were leaving her residence for a night out at Heart in West Hollywood. “People were experiencing emotional breakdowns, but Nas and I, we were exchanging jokes — although internally, we were pretty terrified.”

“We were stuck in there for a solid hour. It was surreal because it’s the elevator in my building, and I use it every day, but I’ve never seen it like that before,” Cabello recounted. “The mirrors were all steamed up, like it was a sauna, because it was so hot and there was no AC.”

They were soon cautioned to tone down the humor. “Nas’ security guard said, ‘I suggest you guys keep the chatter to a minimum because you’re starting to use up all the carbon monoxide, and that’s how people faint,'” she added. “Nas joked, ‘If we weren’t panicking before, we definitely are now.'”

“It was just wild. But it definitely brought us closer,” reflected the “Havana” singer. “There’s nothing like a shared ordeal during a single release.”

Once they were finally freed from the elevator, Cabello and Lil Nas X proceeded to Heart, adamant about enjoying themselves.

“We were an hour behind schedule for the club, but when we got there, we were like, ‘We’re going to get completely wasted. This is a celebration not just for our song, but also the fact that we didn’t succumb to carbon monoxide poisoning today,'” she recounted.

Cabello and Lil Nas X have recently dropped “He Knows,” a vibrant pop collaboration slated to feature on her forthcoming album, C,XOXO, scheduled for release on June 28.

“He’s not just about the music,” she shared with Rolling Stone regarding collaborating with the Grammy-winning artist. “He’s the kind of artist who invests in the whole experience. He’s attentive to the performance, engages with the fans, and places importance on the music video to convey a message.”
