The 23-year-old artist was suddenly pulled and pushed toward the crowd before security quickly stepped in to assist.
An overenthusiastic fan took things too far at Billie Eilish’s Miami concert on Thursday, October 9, crossing both a boundary and the barricade.
While making her way through the crowd at the Kaseya Center, the 23-year-old singer greeted fans with high-fives and smiles — until one attendee suddenly grabbed her, yanking her backward and into the barricade.
Eilish quickly freed herself as her security team rushed in, adjusting her hair and continuing toward the stage without missing a beat.
The incident was captured from multiple angles by fans and displayed on the venue’s jumbotron. In several clips, the person who grabbed her appears to be a man wearing a black hoodie and a baseball cap.
Concertgoer Drew Wintjen, who recorded the altercation, described it as “insane,” telling PEOPLE, “I hate that someone would do something like that to such a queen.” Wintjen added that Eilish handled the moment with composure: “She just kept going and acted like it never happened — like a true professional.”
PEOPLE has reached out to Eilish for comment but has not yet received a response.
The Miami concert kicked off the second leg of Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour. Her previous show took place in Tokyo on August 17. She’s set to perform two more nights in Miami, on October 11 and 12, before heading to Orlando and continuing up the East Coast. The tour is scheduled to conclude on November 23 in San Francisco.
This isn’t the first time Eilish has experienced a physical incident on stage. In December 2024, she was struck in the face by a thrown object — believed to be a bracelet — while performing “What I Was Made For” from the Barbie soundtrack. Despite boos from the audience, she calmly tossed the item back into the crowd and kept singing.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Barbie world premiere in July 2023, Eilish noted that being hit by objects during performances has been happening for “literally six years,” and she urged fans to stop throwing things. “People just get excited,” she said, “but it can be dangerous.”
