Bebe Rexha spoke with PEOPLE about creating “New Religion” and explained why she feels completely authentic during her Dirty Blonde era.
Bebe Rexha is taking full control of her latest musical chapter.
The Grammy-nominated pop singer, 36, dropped the energetic dance track “New Religion” on March 6. The single is part of her upcoming visual album Dirty Blonde and marks her first project released independently through a partnership with EMPIRE Distribution.
The song features the British dance group Faithless and incorporates elements from their iconic track “Insomnia.” Rexha explained that the new single not only samples the classic hit but also includes parts of the original production, something she worked hard to secure approval for from members Rollo, Sister Bliss and Maxi Jazz.
“New Religion” is the third song to be released from Dirty Blonde, following “I Like You Better Than Me” and “Çike Çike.” Instead of unveiling the album all at once, Rexha is introducing it in a creative format—dropping tracks individually while allowing fans to vote on the order in which the songs are released.
Before the track’s debut, Rexha spoke with People Magazine about the process of creating “New Religion,” how fan feedback genuinely influenced the song’s direction, and why she feels more confident and authentic than ever during the Dirty Blonde era.
