“They are in talks about collaborating on a music project together,” shared a source with PEOPLE on Tuesday.
She, a punk icon, and he, a country singer — a tale that speaks for itself.
Avril Lavigne, 39, and Nate Smith, 38, ignited speculation on Tuesday as they were photographed leaving Catch restaurant in Los Angeles. The “Bois Lie” singer and the “Whiskey on You” performer sported all-black outfits in the images, with TMZ capturing moments of them skateboarding post-dinner.
Contrary to dating rumors, an exclusive source informed PEOPLE that the duo is not romantically involved. Instead, the insider revealed, “they are discussing a music project together.”
A spokesperson for Smith did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. The speculation arises following confirmation from a source that Lavigne officially concluded her whirlwind relationship with Tyga in October. The on-again, off-again couple had been dating since February 2023.
Earlier this month, Lavigne unveiled the dates for her inaugural greatest hits tour, spanning 27 performances across North America. The tour will feature opening acts from All Time Low, Simple Plan, Girlfriends, and Royal & the Serpent.
“Tour dates for 2024 baby! I’ll be doing the Greatest Hits from all of my albums and along with some of your favorites, perhaps some special requests?” shared the Canadian superstar on social media alongside the tour announcement. “And of course all of my friends are joining me!!!”
Commencing on May 22 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Lavigne’s tour will traverse various cities, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, Toronto, Nashville, Chicago, and more, culminating on Sept. 16 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The Canadian superstar’s most recent release was “Love Sux” in 2022. This 12-track album, produced by Travis Barker’s DTA Records, boasts collaborations with Machine Gun Kelly, Mark Hoppus, and Blackbear.
