The cinematic rendition of the Broadway musical has been divided into two parts, with the initial segment scheduled for release later this year.
Ariana Grande eagerly anticipates the release of “Wicked.” The 30-year-old singer took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, teasing fans with a silhouette photo portraying herself as Glinda the Good Witch in the forthcoming two-part film adaptation of the renowned Broadway musical. The image captured Grande in costume, adorned with her gown and tiara, holding a scepter in her hand.
The “thank u, next” hitmaker made it clear that the countdown for the highly anticipated movies has begun. She enthusiastically declared that there are “nine months, 26 days, [and] three hours” remaining until the release of the first installment. Additionally, Grande shared a fan’s photo on Instagram, celebrating the milestone of “300 days until Wicked.”
Ariana Grande’s social media updates follow her co-star Cynthia Erivo’s poignant Instagram post on Friday, marking the conclusion of filming. Erivo, who portrays Elphaba, shared a heartfelt message expressing the difficulty in finding adequate words to encapsulate the significance of the experience. She concluded her post with a reflective thought: “The universe will take things away to make space for the grand gifts it has waiting for us.”
Cynthia Erivo, 37, conveyed deep gratitude in her Instagram post, emphasizing the profound impact of the moment, the film, and the people involved, including the director, cast, and crew. Accompanied by a photo of her character’s shadow on a stage, Erivo expressed immense appreciation for the opportunity to portray Elphaba, describing it as the grandest gift. She concluded with a warm invitation for the audience to embrace and love her character as much as she does, signing off with a playful “Elphie out!! 💚💚💚.”
Ariana Grande also shared a lighthearted TikTok video featuring herself and Erivo immersed in conversation on the set of Wicked. The amusing clip captured the actresses engaged in a private dialogue, seemingly unaware that they were being filmed just a few feet away.
While Grande and Erivo engaged in conversation, the person behind the camera amusingly remarked, “They talk amongst themselves and don’t hear the world. Like, we could talk about them out loud, and they don’t even know what’s happening in the outside world.”
When the pair finally noticed the camera, a bemused Grande questioned, “What are you talking about?” Erivo shared the video on her social media with the caption, “One of our favorite videos ever,” specifying that it was recorded in 2022 during rehearsals for the upcoming Wicked movies.
The highly anticipated Wicked adaptation will unfold in two parts, with Wicked: Part One hitting theaters on Nov. 27, 2024, followed by Wicked Part Two on Nov. 26, 2025.
